Spelthorne Archaeological Field Group SAFG is a registered Charity that was formed in 1976 to research and archive the archaeology that comes out of Spelthorne. The Field Group are the Trustees of Spelthorne Museum, which has the second largest archaeological collection in Surrey and receives the site archives from all local excavations. Members of the SAFG receive invitations to preview new exhibitions, go on organised trips, social events and also receive a quarterly newsletter. The Spelthorne Museum is entirely volunteer run. Would you like to join us? We do not expect you to have qualifications or museum experience as we provide on-the-job training. A variety of jobs are available both behind the scenes, looking after the collection, setting up new displays, assisting with the education service and also at the 'front of house' where volunteers ensure that the museum is open when advertised. Volunteers receive a monthly 'Volnatters' newsheet.
